Things to do in & near Surrey
08 / 18 / 2020There are so many local places to explore – you don’t need to travel to find fun things to do in Surrey! As summer is winding down, we have outlined some of our favourite destinations and activities that are in person and online.
Surrey Parks
Embrace the outdoors and less populated spaces. Some of our favourite outdoor areas are Holland Park, Bear Creek Park, Redwood Park, and Crescent Beach. Enjoy the sun while walking along local trails. Want to cool off with the family? Check out the outdoor water parks at Bear Creek Park and the Fleetwood Water Playground.
Outdoor Activities
Golfing is a great way to get some exercise in the outdoors and physically distance from others. Grab your clubs and visit Northview Golf & Country Club, Morgan Creek Golf Course, & Peace Portal Golf Club.
Local Restaurants
There are lots of different local businesses to check out. Our favourite? Dominion Bar + Kitchen, located in our hotel lobby! They have a pop-up patio right in Civic Plaza and new menu items. Other local favourites are Combine Cafe & Bar, Prado Cafe, Tasty Indian Bistro, Bozzinis’s Restaurant, Central City Brewers + Distillers, Afghan Kitchen, My Shanti, and Peaceful Restaurant.
Online & Virtual Events
The annual Surrey Fusion Festival features cultural performances, musical entertainment, art lessons, cultural history, Indigenous education, dance lessons, cooking segments, kids’ cultural activities, and “how-to” cooking, dance, arts and craft activities.
Shopping in Surrey
Need a shopping fix to prepare for back-to-school? Surrey offers a variety of shopping areas like Central City Shopping Centre, Guildford Town Centre, and The Shops at Morgan Crossing.
Other attractions within Metro Vancouver
Civic Hotel’s central location makes it easy to explore different areas. Some of the top attractions in the surrounding areas are Grouse Mountain, Capilano Suspension Bridge, Stanley Park and the Vancouver Seawall, Granville Island, Science World, Vancouver Aquarium, and Fort Langley.
