Put the Books Down, It’s Time to Celebrate!

Celebration is definitely in the air (not to mention a few errant graduation caps!) as the school year draws to a close. While many of the thousands of students studying at post-secondary institutions across Surrey are heading off on a summer-long break, others are busy finishing the last term papers and projects before putting down their books, folding up their laptops and mounting the stage to receive their certificate or degree. It’s graduation time!

You don’t have to look far to find a graduate around here. The number of post-secondary students attending classes in City Centre is remarkable, as this fast-growing academic district hosts no less than three major university campuses. Simon Fraser University has two major sites, UBC runs a number of labs and programs in association with Surrey Memorial Hospital and Kwantlen Polytechnic University is soon to open a new campus in the 3 Civic Plaza building. Surrey is also home to a wide range of smaller academic and vocational colleges that produce hundreds of work-ready graduates each year.
